Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin has served since September 2018 when the Board of County Commissioners chose her to lead the Clerk's Office, after the resignation of the previous County Clerk. She ran successfully to keep the position in 2020.

The Office of the County Clerk keeps records such as resolutions, ordinances, deeds and marriage licenses. The office also issues several types of permits and licenses, such as permits for parties, licenses for liquor establishments, etc.

The Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office also receives nominations and petitions related to elections. The office supervises and prepares ballots and voting machines and trains election workers.

The County Clerk is also responsible for serving as the Clerk of the Probate Court in handling informational proceedings only.
